This site will share with you hundreds of book and film reviews written since 2009. Also a chance to discuss these reviews together with some of my creative writing to be added.
The delivery and refund service were excellent but I disliked the way that the thin layer of liquid gel inside the insole slides about with every step – a bit like walking on a water bed. I'm more used to gel that is solid, but "gives" to pad one's feet.
Although I take size 7 shoes, my only choice was to purchase insoles size 6-7, which meant they fitted in my shoes easily, but left a small gap top and bottom. This was less of a problem than the gel in perpetual motion. I was also worried about the possibility of the gel leaking over my shoes as the insoles wore out.
The insoles seem more expensive than some "solid gel" alternatives which I have found more effective and comfortable, apart from the disadvantage of having to cut them to size.
This bag comes in such a wide range of colours that it is hard to make a choice. The straps are just the right length for a shoulder bag, and they can be easily adjusted to create a smart back pack. The flat bottom enables the bag to be placed in a vertical position without tipping over. The leather is smooth and quite stiff, although it has quickly formed bulges to reflect the shape of articles inside and this detracts a little from the smart design. I would have preferred a softer leather which would have given a more casual appearance from the outset.
A slight drawback is that adjustable straps are crossed over in "shoulder bag" mode which makes it harder to open the bag fully but which may keep it in place on the shoulder better. There are two main compartments separated by a soft zipped pocket, so that items tend to slip down to the roomy bottom, but it is hard to open the bag wide enough to rummage for them, particularly when the bag is on one's shoulder. It's a "medium" capacity bag, unsuitable for those who like to tote around elephant's graveyards, but at least it won't give you shoulder-ache.
Since the detailed online description stated that purple bags (my choice) had a synthetic exterior, whereas some other colours and the overall description state "leather" I was a bit anxious, but can confirm that the product seems to be leather on the outside with a soft off-white lining which will probably get stained or dirty before it wears out.
The price seems very reasonable, the design is attractive. I like the bag but it is a little too narrow at the top to use the space fully. N.B. Five months on, and the purple colour is rubbing badly off the thin purple shoulder straps, so won't buy again, which is a pity since the design is stylish.
These fresh and tasty chocolates were delivered promptly in a beautiful wooden box with the striking flower pattern shown. This makes a very attractive present. The chocolates are relatively expensive in that they are quite small and all the same, but if you like truffles this is not a problem, and I think the quality is good.
Having been introduced to this recently as an alternative to scrabble, it takes a while to get used to the different technique of changing words by building them up vertically to a maximum of five tiles in height. This often means changing short simple words in a "race to the top", rather than aiming to achieve long ones with high value tiles on squares giving double/triple word or letter scores. I suspect Upwords is less sophisticated and satisfying than Scrabble in terms of the potential to create interesting words, but it presents a new and different challenge.
This sweeper seemed brilliant at first, it was light and easy to use, but it is a flimsy cheaply put together product that after 5 weeks of relatively light use on wooden and tiled floors ceased to work. The electric engine just whirred and no longer had the power to turn the brushes.
This 7cm (2.75") wide black belt, completely elasticated apart from an imitation patent leather panel each side of the hook-and-snap plastic and metal buckle is likely to be loose-fitting but is quite effective in e.g. holding a loose-waisted skirt in place. Although quite stylish when closed, the belt is a little "fiddly" to fasten and quite hard to undo, but this may also mean that it is unlikely to come apart too easily! The quality e.g. of the buckle is not high, but for a relatively cheap belt perhaps you cannot expect more.
These cards remain a very convenient way of sending gifts which are easy to post, and enable the recipient to treat themselves to something they really want – although I agree that giving this kind of present can seem a bit unimaginative and lazy.
My only criticism is that the choice of pictures is so limited, and I have used up the small number which I like enough to want to put my name to them.
